Boozers Remain Undefeated. Muzi Woes Continue

Steve Harris ripped three homers, a double, and a single to pace a devastating offensive onslaught against the winless Muzi crew on Wednesday as the Boozers claimed their fifth straight win to start the 2005 campaign without a loss.

Harris' impressive offensive performance eclipsed the return of fan favorite Ralph Folz, who had a pretty good night for himself at the plate batting behind Harris. Folz went 3-for-5 with a homer and 3 RBI on his return to the lineup. Also returning to the lineup for the first time this season was longtime 2B Beth Goan, who picked up right where she left off after a sterling season last year, going 3-for-5 with a double at the plate. And the good news on offense doesn't stop there as and newcomers Nate Gurevich and Mike Mutter, batting in the 1 and 2 spots in the order, accounted for 7 runs themselves.

Last night's matchup was expected to be a grueling affair, as everyone expected Muzi had to break out of its early season slump at some time, and they always seemed to come alive against the Boozers. But Muzi fell behind early and never really got the bats going. An 11-run sixth inning by the Boozers sapped whatever life the dispirited Muzi squad had in them, and despite mustering three runs in the bottom of the seventh they went down 26 - 13, their fourth consecutive defeat.

The Boozers' record now stands at 5 - 0, securely atop the standings. The Boozers' next opponent is the surprising Isotopes, who are currently in second place 2 games back and who kept pace with the Boozers after a convincing win over the reeling GD squad on Thursday. They second year team would probably like nothing better than to knock the vaunted Boozers off their high horse, so the Boozers will have to keep focused and not be over-confident going into Monday's matchup.
