Boozers Eliminated By GD, 21 - 13
Finally heeding his manager's advice, the loquacious Hung Tran tried to
carry the Boozer offense with a 4-for-5 outing, including a triple and four runs scored, but to no avail as the Boozers were eliminated
in the first round for the first time in 6 years.
The Boozers were behind from the start, having to cede a one-run penalty each inning for failing to have a female fielder in the lineup as co-ed league rules dictate. Despite this they kept the game close through the first four innings. But GD took a commanding lead in the 5th and extended it further in the 6th while holding the Boozers to a single run over the last two innings.
The defense was also hampered by a shortage of outfielders as the team only fielded a roster of nine for the deciding game. GD's offense was able to take advantage of the gaps left in the outfield, as well as their superior speed. Meanwhile the GD defense confounded the Boozer batters with defensive shifts and pinpoint accuracy out of their ace.
