Boozer Seven Suffer Worst Defeat
The chronically undermanned Boozers, fielding only 7 players against archrival GD, suffered their worst defeat in years Monday night, falling to the 1st place GD team by a score of 23 - 12. Not much went right in this one from the start as the GD team jumped on the Boozers for 3 runs in the first, 7 in the second, and 7 more in the 3rd before kicking in the cruise control to waltz away with an easy win. The Boozers failed to muster much of an attack until the 6th inning when they put 5 runs. But it was a case of too little, too late. The Boozer defense was hampered all night by the lack of fielders, which was exacerbated by the fact that many of the available players were forced to play out of position. The only bright spot was the addition of Dr. Gerardo Orlando to the Boozer's roster after a decade absence from the league. He turned in a fine performance at shortstop, filling in for the missing Paul Smith.
The loss dropped the Boozers to 4 - 2 on the season, 1½ games behind GD at the midpoint of their season.
