Boozers Swept In First Round By GDA thrilling back-and-forth affair between the Boozers and GD needed extra innings, but ultimately ended with GD scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to bounce the Boozers from the playoffs in the first round for the second year in a row. The game was close throughout, with four lead changes and plenty of clutch hitting and good defense displayed by both sides.Trailing by a run late in the game, the Boozers scored three times in the sixth and three more in the top of the seventh to take a five run lead with GD down to their last three outs. But the Boozers blew that lead in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into the extra frame. GD quickly set down the Boozers in the top of the eighth. In the bottom half of the inning a single up the middle was turned in to a double by a hustling baserunner. The next batter drove another single to left, plating the winning run to end the Boozers' season. GD now faces Muzi, who defeated the upstart Isotopes in their series two games to one, in the finals. That matchup is a repeat of last years finals, which saw GD take the title in the best-of-three series. |
